Entertainment oulets in Kedah, including centers and discotheques, will not be allowed to operate during the month of Ramadhan.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said live band perfomances with singers at bars, hotels, restaurants adn eatery outlets and areas easily accessed by the public also not allowed.
He said the regulation under the state Entertanment Enactment 1997 which listed these places, however excluded cybercafes, bowling and snooker centres.
Azizan also said that all Chinese eateries and outlets that catered for international customers were allowed to operate as normal.
they include fast food restaurants such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, mcDonalds and Pizza Hut, he said.
Azizan also said cultural and religous perfomances would be allowed during Ramadhan as long as they did not cause disturbance to others.
"This regulation is already in the enactment and it was enforced each Ramadhan but due to poor enformcement, there were those who did not abide by the regulation," he said after chairing the state executive council meeting here Wednesday.
He said the regulation would be fully enforced this year following complaints by the state Islamic Religious Councils during a meeting with district officers to prevent immoral activities during Ramadhan.
